USA Curling

In 2000, Ausgate Technologies was tasked with create an online membership system for USA Curling.

The previous system was an MS Access database that was updated manually by USA Curling staff with membership data sent in various non-standard formats from the 165 member clubs.

Ausgate created an online database closely matched the original Access database, then created a brand new web interface for managing the individual clubs and members. A standardized reporting mechanism was created so each of the 165 member clubs could provide their own updated members list and automatically upload the data directly into the new membership system (which saved a hundreds of input hours for the USA Curling staff not having to manually input the 16,400 plus individual members).

The original system was also rife with errors and duplicate entries caused by human input errors and information coming from multiple sources (if members belonged to more than one club). So Ausgate created an internal automatic multi-entry search and merge tool that located and fixed almost 90% of the existing errors immediately.

Other features were built into the new system so individual members could create an online account and manage their own details which would automatically notify USA Curling of any name, address, or contact details changes.
